Mens Health and Families

I am a mother of four male teenagers between the ages of thirteen and nineteen. I work as a teacher however on my free time I am completely devoted to them. I continuously research and study themes related to men’s health because I want to offer my children the best nutrition and health practices I can.

There are many magazines dedicated to men’s health issues available at a variety of stores. Inside these magazines are countless articles discussing everything from the latest scientific discoveries about disease treatments to the benefits of proper food nutrition and exercise. Although I am not a doctor I have always been very interested on topics related to health and nutrition. When I became a mother a mother of four boys my interest in men’s health became enormous.

I am very fortunate because all of my children are healthy, physically and mentally. They love to perform sports, they are all big fans of soccer and of baseball, and they like to socialize with their friends and classmates. Despite a regular well behavior their teenage curiosity for the unknown has gotten them into trouble, as they have experimented with drugs such as marihuana and alcohol. I try to maintain constant communicating with my children to avoid isolating myself from their worlds. I recommend that any mother who has male children informs herself on men’s health issues as this knowledge will be very useful throughout the development years.

Importance of keeping a healthy weight

I suffered from obesity since I was fifteen years old. This disease caused negative effects on my life that I am just now being able to surpass. The cause for my obesity was anxiety; this condition caused me to overeat compulsively as a way to release stress and nervousness. I accepted treatment four years after I started with this compulsive behaviour and now, at twenty one, I finally have a healthy weight.

It was very difficult for me to admit that I suffered form a compulsive eating disorder which was affecting my life in many ways. I was obese, which caused me to feel ugly, sad and tired most of the time. I was very shy and did not have many friends. When I finally accepted help my parents took me to a psychologist and to a physician and I started to have regular therapy sessions and to consume low dosages of an oral medication to help me reduce anxiety. Eventually I started to loose weight, although it took me a long time to achieve a healthy weight.

I know there are a lot of teenagers who suffer form obesity caused by compulsive eating. I strongly urge them to seek help because everyday that they are obese they are damaging their health. Obesity has terrible repercussions in the overall health conditions, duplicating the chances of developing diabetes, heart disease, arthritis and high blood pressure. A healthy weight will allow you to enjoy life and all of its great pleasures much more than when you are obese.
